First of all, understand why you are fighting?

After watching this movie, I finally understood that Sun Tzu's Art of War said that "the teacher is famous", which is what Mao Weiren emphasized, "First of all, we must understand why we are fighting?" The wars of European and American capitalist countries have always been decided by capitalists. Participation in the war depends on the consideration of capital. Justice, democracy, freedom, etc. are all slogans of mobilization. So, the soldiers who knew this knew very well that they were just victims of war, tools of killing. This is why European and American filmmakers have made these bizarre anti-war films that emphasize individualism again and again (see also the Korean film "Taichi Flag Fluttering"). On the other hand, China has always been in a position of being invaded. It is only after the family is destroyed that it rises up to fight, and it understands that if it fails, it will die. Therefore, the anti-war view of our war films is that only victory can lead to peace and war can be stopped.

Great movie indeed. But the name Red Alert almost made me miss this good movie. Why are Chinese translations always so vulgar? Do we have vulgar genes? The general tone of western war films is to reflect on war, the tone is anti-war, and why our films are always heroic.

I never thought that a war movie could be so lyrical and poetic. Just one scene of capturing the top of a mountain is enough to be recorded in film history-the turbulent scene, the moving shots seem to be in dialogue with the soul, the deep fear is revealed, and the soldiers’ subjective Feelings can be transformed into the subjective feelings of you and us moviegoers. There is no stagnation or ramble, but it is also a very moving ramble.

The Thin Red Line quotes

  • Lt. Col. Gordon Tall: It's not necessary for you to ever tell me that you think I'm *right*. Ever. We'll assume it.

  • Japanese Soldier: Are you righteous? Kind? Does your confidence lie in this? Are you loved by all? Know that I was, too. Do you imagine your suffering will be any less because you loved goodness and truth?
