Some films are the practice of sociologists, some are the structural games of writers, and some are visually stimulating, passionate, and powerful. For such works, words are redundant. So I wrote a poem combining the meaning of green in different periods and the plot of the movie, with screenshots, hoping to express some of the things that the movie touched me.

- They are green in Latin (viridis), green in French (vert), and green in Spanish and Italian (verde).
- The Latin words for spring (ver), man (vir), strength (vis), and strong (virere) are derived from the Latin green (viridis).
- In ancient Egyptian paintings, green often symbolizes fertility, reproduction, youth, growth, etc. It is related to harvest and is auspicious color.
- Henry McHenry, played by Adam Driver, wears a green jacket and robe in the film. In the Middle Ages, many bad guys wore green. For example, Judas often wore green, yellow, or yellow and green clothes. Green means instability, both love and youth, as well as falsehood and deception.
- Henry also wore a green velvet cap. Green has been associated with money since at least the 14th century, and cuckolding in German and French means bankruptcy, implying that Henry would eventually go bankrupt. Of course, the more familiar meme is that a husband cuckold means his wife is cheating.
- Green knights generally refer to young brave but reckless knights, and may first appear in literature in the second half of the 12th century. Green symbolizes love and hope. In love, green is youth and passion.
- Henri Rousseau painted many green virgin forests, such as The Dream (1910).
- Refers to Eve eating the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden. At the beginning of the film, Ann Defrasnoux, played by Marion Cotillard, eats an apple once in the car. Later, there was an apple that was eaten by the swimming pool at home.
- An Suibo's slow swimming looks much like an Ophelia picture, foreshadowing taboo and death. Ophelia (1851–52) by John Everett Millais. The painting is based on the character Ophelia in William Shakespeare's Hamlet. Ophelia was rejected by Hamlet, and her father Polonius was stabbed to death. Under the double blow, Ophelia lost her mind and even fell into the water and drowned.
- In the film, Henry told a joke about tickling his wife to death on the talk show stage.
- A drunken Henry killed Ann.
- The color of the devil refers to green. Red and black used to be the colors of the devil. For example, the forbidden fruit eaten by Eve was red, and the image of a red apple appeared in the film. But from the Middle Ages to the beginning of modern times, the most commonly used color for demons became green. Also includes poisons, little devils, elves, etc., all green.
- There is a green pond in the back garden of Ann and Henry. Henry drowns the conductor, played by Simon Helberg, in a pond.
- Singing prodigy Annette decides not to sing ever since she finds out that her father Henry has murdered her.
