What is more funny than an "abnormal" thing doing its best to become "normal" and behave "normal"? The joke in "Holy" comes from a kind of inversion of self-cognition-a small town of evil spirits packaged itself as Santa Claus who spread the gospel. But until you understand Jack’s growth arc and sorrow, and until you see that it has nothing to do with any festival but a mid-life crisis, you never have the right to call it "horror."
