Levitt is the only bright spot I found in this film. The rest of the characterizations are weakened accordingly due to excessive force or the weakening of the three-stage structure. Both Alba's NANCY and Brin's DWIGHT are sacrificed for structure and narrative demands.
On the contrary, JOHNNY, played by Levitt, pursues belief in the film, and it is also the most valuable, fragile and illusory thing in SIN city. The few strokes in the film, through stylized film language, show the audience an image of a struggling little character with stunts. The character image that would rather be broken than tiled reminds me of the paintings by Taiwan cartoonist Zheng Wen. Characters in Biography of Assassins and Heroes of the Eastern Zhou Dynasty. Exudes the same self-defeating chivalrous spirit.
