This is a movie to help people who continue to live. When people lose an important person forever, they all yearn for the return of the deceased, just like the mirror of Erised in "Harry Potter", which can be seen in the mirror to lost relatives. However, Headmaster Dumbledore told Harry that the magic mirror would be removed, because the virtual image in the mirror made people indulge in fantasy and forget life. The tree in the movie helped Simon and Dawn to get out of their grief, but it also prevented them from admitting their loss and continuing to live their lives until the tree completely collapsed and the living people were no longer clinging to false fantasies, and life could continue.
