Now, in my personal opinion, to talk about why Mickey chose to sleep. We welcome everyone to share different views.
In general, it is analyzed from two perspectives. The first perspective is only from the comic story itself, and the second perspective is based on the author's intention.
From the first point of view, the comic story itself: after
Mickey parasitized on Shinichi's right hand, they were all influencing each other, especially after Mickey helped Shinichi repair the severely injured heart, more cells on Mickey's body were integrated. Into the new one, causing this effect to be more pronounced.
Mickey's influence on Shinichi is reflected in Shinichi's physical abilities, such as physical strength, speed, vision, hearing, etc., which are greatly enhanced compared to ordinary people, and Shinichi's spirit has also changed, even if he is sad, he can't shed tears (later because Tamura Reiko's relationship was healed), and occasionally showed ruthlessness without knowing it (such as saying that the dead puppy was a "dog body", and Satomi also said that Shinichi's eyes had no emotion at all).
The influence of the new pair of Mickeys: Because the new one is a good boy who respects his parents and filial piety, and is docile and kind, so Mickey, who originally had no feelings and only cared about his own safety, gradually became considerate and help others (such as Hideo Tajima in school later). He Mitsuo (a big man who likes Kana) gang fights with killing intent, Mickey feels the killing intent, although it will not threaten the safety of himself and Shinichi, but Mickey considers that if Shinichi is not notified to stop it, Shinichi will be sad , so Mickey still "minds his own business one more time" and informs Shinichi; and at the end, when Mickey wakes up to save Satomi, in direct communication with Shinichi's brain, he said that he didn't understand Shinichi as a human at first. It is sad to see a puppy die, and then I realize that one of the great virtues of human beings is that they can help other people or creatures, and sometimes even give up their own life).
But then again, influence is influence after all, and the essence of human nature will not change. Although Xinyi shows ruthlessness occasionally unconsciously, he is always a good boy who is docile and kind; and although Mickey will consider human feelings, he is still a parasite that considers his own interests first.
Let's look at Mickey's sleep from the above nature of Mickey:
about what Mickey was doing when he was asleep, it feels very abstract just from the comic story. In Mickey's words, it means "it feels very pleasant", "in one and a new one". The real world is a different world". What Mickey said about the world he went to after he fell asleep, I am afraid that every reader will have his own imagination. And my personal imagination is that it may be a world that Mickey feels is better and more comfortable than the real world.
The first time Mickey felt the world after deep sleep was after entering Gotou's body. Before, in the real world, even if there was no threat from other parasites, Mickey was Shinichi's right hand after all, and he was not an independent subject. Maybe since Mickey entered Gotou's body and felt the new world, he compared the two worlds in his heart, and felt that the world after his sleep was happier and more comfortable than the real world.
One thing is for sure, when Mickey and Xin say goodbye, Xinyi's sadness is far greater than that of Mickey. Xinyi is very reluctant to leave Mickey, and although Mickey will be a little bit reluctant to part with Xinyi, Mickey is always a friend. The parasitic beast first considers his own interests. He feels that the world after sleep is more attractive to him. In Mickey's heart, this "attraction" is greater than the
"reluctance" for Xinyi, so Mickey finally chose to sleep.
Mickey chose to sleep, and another factor is that most of the parasites have either been eliminated, or have changed to eat human food and integrated into human society, and will no longer pose a threat to Xinyi's life, and Xinyi's ability to have stronger physical fitness than ordinary people It is always there and can protect his life under normal circumstances (of course, Mickey will wake up when Shinichi really encounters a crisis that he cannot solve), so Mickey will choose to sleep with confidence.
From the second point of view, from the point of view of the author Yan Mingjun, why did Mickey fall asleep at the end.
I personally think that the author wants Xinyi to live a normal life. When the story happened, Xinyi was only 17 years old. At such a young age, he had to bear the pain of the murder of his mother, and he wanted to hide in his heart such a big secret that was related to the survival of human beings, but there was no relative or friend around him who could tell it. Uda Mamoru, who was parasitized on his chin, said, but Uda guards the field and is not considered a "friends and relatives around him". Everyone, imagine how uncomfortable it would be to keep secrets in our hearts and not tell them, let alone what big secrets, sometimes even small secrets are very uncomfortable to hold in our hearts. My friend told me, not to mention that Xinyi had to hide so many secrets in his heart. His feelings were inadvertently affected by parasitic beasts and became indifferent, but he was misunderstood by the most beloved girl as "ruthless" and "distrustful". It's Shinichi's grief.
By the end of the story, although Shinichi will hardly be threatened by other parasites, the author thinks that Shinichi has to bear so much pressure and burden at such a young age. Shinichi lives a normal life, which is why the writer puts Mickey to sleep.
Some people can't help but ask: If Mickey doesn't fall asleep, can Xinyi live a normal life? Isn't Xinyi very reluctant to let Mickey fall asleep? Yes, from Xinyi's own point of view, he is still young and reluctant to have this friendship with Mickey. But from an objective point of view, Xinyi also has to go to college, find a job, get married, and have children. If Mickey doesn't fall asleep, he will be inseparable from Xinyi except for the four hours of sleep every day. Normal people need a little alone time. Even the best-loved couples still need a little space to be alone occasionally, and Xinyi also said in the story that when he was with Satomi, he hoped that Mickey could fall asleep. Although Mickey won't show up to disturb their two-person world, Shinichi will always feel a little uncomfortable. And at the end, Mickey and Xin said goodbye to the person who often spoke to his right hand. Isn't it strange? Mickey also wants Shinichi to live a normal life. To sum up, the author will let Mickey fall asleep at the end and let Xinyi live a normal life completely, as compassion and compensation for Xinyi.
