Divergent: Alien Awakening (2014)

I found that many of these sci-fi and factional novels have been made into movies recently, such as The Hunger Games series, The Maze Runner series, and the Divergent series to be introduced today. I am too immune to this type of story, so I read one story after another. However, due to the trend of mass production of similar movies, this is actually the case when you watch more. I hope that major filmmakers can consider the "sustainable development" of this type of film...

In fact, the latest one is Insurgent (Divergent 2). : The Jedi Strikes Back), thinking about writing anyway, just write the first Divergent in the same series.

Divergent is actually the first part of the trilogy, which can be said to be the basis of the whole story. The following is a monologue by the heroine at the beginning of the movie:

"We're lucky to be in the city. They say the war was terrible, that the rest of the world was destroyed. Our founders built the wall to keep us safe, and they divided us into five groups, factions, to keep the peace. The smart ones, the ones who value knowledge and logic, are in Erudite. They know everything. Amity farm the land. They're all about kindness and harmony, always happy. Candor value honesty and order. They tell the truth, even when you wish they wouldn't. And then there's Dauntless. They're our protectors, our soldiers, our police. I always thought they were amazing. Brave, fearless and free. Some people think Dauntless are crazy, when they kind of are. My faction is Abnegation. The others all call us'stiffs'. We lead a simple life, selfless, dedicated to helping others. We even feed the Factionless, the ones who don't fit in anywhere. Because we're public servants, we're trusted to run the government. My father works alongside our leader, Marcus. It all works. Everyone knows where they belong. Except for me." ——Divergent, 2014

The above monologue clearly introduces the background of the story. The survivors of the war live inside the high walls. People are assigned to the five major factions (Educated, Friendly, Honest, Fearless, and Selfless according to their personalities). In factions), each faction performs its own duties to maintain the balance and peace of the entire system. Everyone knows where they belong, except for the heroine Tris (played by Shailene Woodley). Although fully aware that he does not belong to any faction, Tris decided to join the Fearless faction and met the actor Four (played by Theo James).

If I went to watch the movie Divergent alone, it didn't bring me too many surprises. But after I watched Insurgent, I got a new perspective. The film Divergent exists to introduce the background of the story. It also includes the introduction of the characters and the complicated relationship between the characters, as well as the display of the story clues. It can be said that the film has completed its mission quite satisfactorily. Therefore, to watch Divergent and Insurgent together, the continuity of the story and the twists and turns of the plot are definitely better than watching the two movies alone. My evaluation of Divergent has also improved because I watched Insurgent, and I look forward to 2016. The release of Allegiant: Part 1 (Different 3: Allegiance) and Allegiant: Part 2 in 2017.
