"Captain Sully" | Being understood is the rarest thing

"Captain Sully" is based on a true story. On January 15, 2009, a US Airways flight 1549 from LaGuardia Airport in New York to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in Seatuck, Washington, took off six days later. Minutes later, it made an emergency landing on the Hudson River in New York after being struck by a flock of geese.
This forced landing was supposed to be an absolute plane crash, but the plane did not crash, and all 155 people on board survived.

I thought that the movie would completely restore the scene like most disaster movies, but unexpectedly, the movie put the main theme after the incident. Correct judgment, in the end what he did is a hero or a liar.

I really appreciate that the film presents a calm and restrained temperament, without deliberately stirring up the atmosphere of disaster, nor overly portraying the heroic image of Captain Sully. Liu Yu said in "Send You a Bullet": "The sensationalism, like many other things, follows the principle of extremes. Feeling of pressure."

Imagine that you are told that the plane will face a violent impact within 6 minutes of take-off. Except for the frightened face, the first thought is still unbelievable. The brain can still respond. It is estimated that the message is sent to the favorite people. And as the captain, I just came to work! To be honest, in this lonely moment, neither professionalism nor the desire to survive can make you make a decisive decision. It is indeed the years of experience and technology that can make a choice calmly. The movie's clear and simple restoration of the accident makes the real power more prominent.

What struck me the most about the whole film were two stark contrasts: the first was the aggressive questioning of Captain Sally and the co-pilot by several harsh reviewers, who doubted Sally from a self-righteous professional point of view. The captain made the wrong and dangerous judgment, and the plane landed on the Hudson River instead of returning to LaGuardia.

Captain Sully said with a complicated mood: "It's funny that I have transported millions of passengers for 40 years, but in the end, 208 seconds have passed for me."

The second is that when Captain Sally asked a female employee in the hotel if she could dry clean her only work uniform overnight, the female employee responded with admiration and exclamation on her face, not to mention dry cleaning a work uniform, the entire hotel It's all yours, and can't help but give Captain Sully an unexpected hug. The sincerity and innocence of female employees are like the warm sunlight refracted from the window.

I've always liked Dickens' quote "It was the best of times and the worst of times". To be honest, the world does give us unlimited possibilities, but the world is so cruel, it is not a system that helps us fight monsters with points, and it is not like a mother who will feel sorry for your efforts, as long as you screw up once, as long as you fail once , will be given a red card by the referee indifferently.

Although we don't like the feeling of being beaten to death by a single stick, we have already been infected with this bad habit.
With prejudice and arrogance, we learn to score and judge things, and we are good at pursuing appearances and results. Many times, you think that what you do is to reveal the truth from the reality, but in fact you are just standing on the mean and selfish side of yourself.
The unfriendliness of the world can be considered to be corrupted by human beings, like a guy with a bad temper, arrogantly saying don't tell me how you were in the past, if you can't do it now, you can't do it.
Whether it's a superhero in the movie or a superstar in reality, no one is spared. As long as they fail or get angry, they will be ignored.

Results do matter, and understanding is irreplaceable.
There is a classic line in Liao Yimei's play "Softness": "It is not rare to encounter love or sex, but understanding is what is rare." Whether it is starting a business, running a horse, or conquering academics, chasing love On the road, we are all cautiously walking towards a beautiful vision.
On the long road, the most important thing is that someone understands your original intention, cares about your efforts, and appreciates your efforts. I have always believed that human kindness is a kind of power, like the breeze that drives away the smog.

Sometimes when you are so embarrassed that you have nowhere to escape, there are still people who can cherish you, and that meaning is extraordinary. Just like the warm hug given by the female employee to Captain Sully in the movie, the meaning is also extraordinary, which means that she understands that 208 seconds is a moment worthy of eternal memory for Captain Sully.

The power of understanding is not just in the fact that we devote our attention to a certain person, but more in the fact that our eyes and the eyes of the person are in the same place. The shared vision between us, the overlapping part in space, is the capacity of true understanding.
