The witch Gothel stayed young by relying on a magical golden flower. The queen was seriously ill. The king sent someone to find this golden flower to treat the queen. The queen recovered from the illness and gave birth to a blond girl Rapunzel. The witch lost the golden flower, but found that the little princess's blonde hair had the same magical powers, so she stole Rapunzel and locked her on a tall tower without stairs in the forest.

Eighteen years later, Rapunzel grew into a beauty with long blonde hair under the care of a witch. She yearned for the outside world more and more. For her youth to stay forever, the witch tried her best to keep Rapunzel by her side. One day, the thief Flynn stole the princess's crown and fled into the forest. Under the trend of curiosity, he boarded this mysterious tower and saw the Rapunzel in the tower by mistake. Accompanied by Flynn, Rapunzel walked down the tower and embarked on a big adventure in life and love.

The film is Disney’s 50th animated feature film, adapted from the classic Grimm’s fairy tale "Rapunzel", and was directed by Disney veteran artist Glen Keane for the first time.

Tangled quotes

  • Rapunzel: [singing] Flower gleam and glow. Let your powers shine. Make the clock reverse. Bring back what once was mine. Heal what has been hurt. Change the fates' design. Save what has been lost. Bring back what once was mine, What once was mine...

  • Rapunzel: [about Flynn] I think he likes me.

Mother Gothel: Likes you? Please, Rapunzel, that's demented!

    Rapunzel: But Mother, I...

Mother Gothel: This is why you never should have left!/Dear, this whole romance that you've invented / Just proves you're too naive to be here./Why would he like you? Come on now, really./Look at you! You think that he's impressed?/Don't be a dummy, come with mummy./Mother...

    Rapunzel: No!

Mother Gothel: No? Oh. I see how it is. Rapunzel knows best; Rapunzel's so mature now./Such a clever grown-up miss./Rapunzel knows best. Fine, if you're so sure now,/Go ahead and give him this, huh?

[reveals the satchel with the crown inside]

    Rapunzel: [shocked] How did you...?

Mother Gothel: THIS is why he's here! Don't let him deceive you!/Give it to him, watch, you'll see!

    Rapunzel: I will!

Mother Gothel: Trust me, my dear, that's how fast he'll leave you./I won't say I told you so!/No, Rapunzel knows best!/So, if he's such a dreamboat,/Go and put him to the test!

    Rapunzel: Mother, wait!

Mother Gothel: If he's lying, don't come crying/Mother... knows best!
