I don't like the name "Alita" translated from the American version of the comics, of course the movie uses this name, I still like to call her Gary, go to the death ball game without her name on the helmet, to be honest I'm disappointed because I I remember clearly seeing that name in the comics as "Gally". The name of the movie is also based on the name of the American comics, Battle Angel. But in the heart of the old fans, its name is Gunmeng.
The first time I read this comic 16 years ago, Gary was so brave and mighty in the comic, which made me think this is what a woman should be like. At an age when I didn't understand anything, she showed me a character who is determined and courageous. Transforming a human body can't hide her human heart. Humans are creatures with socialization and civilization, who can feel joys, sorrows and sorrows, and have empathy, so they can be called human beings. The replacement of the body by a machine will not change the fact of being a "human".
In fact, in the original book, Gary was too powerful, but in the movie, it was more lifelike, so that she was surrounded by more emotions, and it also strengthened the unforgettable relationship. Because of the emotional Gary, he has become a more delicate and spiritual character. As much as I hate that character set in the movie, with those weirdly over-caricatured eyes that don't have the iconic octopus mouth and oiled cheeks, I really don't like Gary like that.
But I accepted that Gary who was full of emotion and tenderness.
Her original name was Razor Yoko. She was really like that sharp and brittle Damascus knife, fighting and killing non-stop. Only when she was still a child with a broken body, she struggled to survive under the fire. After becoming a warrior, he put aside his feelings and turned into a weapon. But after Id gave her a new name, she took on another identity and lived in scrap iron in a more human way.
I know she looked a little weird when she called Id "Dad", but Id really gave her a family feeling and made her feel the emotion between family members.
And the deepest feeling is with Hugo. Gary loves him more than he does in the original. When she took out her heart and put it in front of Hugo, she was like a young girl in love, even though she was 300 years old. It was as if he was saying excitedly, "Hey, I gave you my heart. This is all I have."
This may be the most primitive and beautiful emotion of human beings that can be melted together - the reason why love can be called life and death, and the infatuation comes from that sincerity and dedication.
I really didn't expect that this part that was not in the original book would be seen in the movie. In the original book, Gary went to the death ball game because of Hugo's death, and the first time he took out his heart was also in the arm wrestling bet. At that time, Gary was a brave warrior. In the movie, she is more like an ordinary girl.
There was nothing wrong with that, because from the moment she started calling Gary, she was destined to be her own person, someone she could like.
In the end, Gary, who was desperate, rushed out of the field to save Hugo, and on the pipe leading to Salem, Gary held Hugo's hand tightly, as if to save him, but in the end he fell. Gary said that "I love you" in the movie, and I always thought it was in the comics that she wanted to say but didn't say it at the end. The last sentence she said in the original book was "Goodbye." When I finished watching the movie, I felt that Gary had a lot of emotional regrets in the comics and added it in the movie.
After all, as human beings, we need these emotions to make our lives full and three-dimensional.
And feelings, let us find purpose and strength, and a definition of ourselves.
