Videotape age

I rented a lot of videos to watch when I was in elementary school. This is the one I will never forget. Although I only watched it once, even after so many years, some details and scenes are still fresh in my memory. Like "Human Meat Barbecued Pork Buns", it gave me an indelible impression of childhood.

The primary school students were not very courageous. Although some of the horror films at that time seemed crude and terrible now, many still scared me to death. But in this one, I found at certain moments that I would laugh when I was frightened. This was my first understanding of black humor. After watching this movie, I went to the videotape store and rented the second movie "Man Playing Ghost". Slowly, layer by layer, I found the joy of watching this movie.

At least this film, for the young me, is a supplement to a certain aspect.

Hmm~ Sure enough, it's still too old, the magic era of movies, stop-motion animation is still used for special effects, but in that era, this kind of old B-grade film is well-made

This film is Sam Raimi's debut, which can be described as one of the most successful cult films in the history of film. In today's eyes, the plot is simple and the production is rough, but it is full of Sam Raimi's infinite creativity and enthusiasm, such as the use of a lot of low-cost fast-moving shots to create a sense of unknown horror, the Dutch angle (the camera is fixed by special equipment. or handheld) application, which increases the sense of despair and helplessness of the protagonist, followed by quick editing and the superposition of strange music, which also makes the sense of horror soar. Of course, the most talked about is that the stop-motion photography and clay animation techniques forced to be used because of the low cost were unintentionally one of the biggest highlights of the whole film, which indirectly influenced Tsui Hark's "A Chinese Ghost Story" in later generations.
