who is shrugging

...
After watching this movie yesterday, I couldn't help thinking about the movie's assumptions, because science fiction movies all start with assumptions.
The most basic assumption in the film is that all social elites are taken away, and the society falls into a state of government hegemony, which stifles social creativity and paralyzes social stability. I think this point must not work in reality. It is always said that what is lacking in the 21st century is talent, so China's education industry is booming. In fact, it is not that many college students have wasted their time in college and have not cultivated themselves into useful talents. The real situation is that there are too many people who can become elites and talents, but most of the opportunities are reserved for the powerful. So if there really is John Gordon, please take away those elites and let others take the lead!
Let's talk about the branch line hypothesis in the film: The 20th Century Power Engine Company said that it was not distributed according to work, but non-distribution according to needs, which eventually led to the paralysis of the company, and John Gordon ran wild. This assumption is basically true, and it is true that the hard-working people in the film will be plundered by the lazy people. But the point is that the forces that support this society are indeed industrious people, and it is not the lazy people among the toiling masses who plunder these wealth, but the greedy people among the elite! Ordinary people, even if they want to be lazy, will always go to work if they have to worry about their livelihood. But the greedy and unconscionable people in the powerful class will squeeze the wealth of the common people again and again! The labor of ordinary people is really the mainstay of society, not the leaders of a few elite management classes. "Those who are covered in Luo Qi are not silkworm breeders!"
I also do not agree to directly distribute the money of the rich to the poor. Such a communist utopia will indeed lead to a lack of productivity and a decrease in creativity in the society. What I want to say is, stop emphasizing the role of elites as the mainstay of society. We can cultivate many ordinary people to become elites. The key is to choose whether to cultivate children from wealthy families or children from ordinary families. What the little people ask for is the right to be able to provide food and clothing, to be more respected, and to rest in peace on weekends and holidays, instead of worrying about prices forever! Don't underestimate the strength of the common people. When they have more time and rights, they are not all people who will go to the society to make trouble. They will also pursue art, knowledge, ideals, and life! That is the driving force for the development of a society, not like the current situation. They are too tired to make a living and have no time to pursue higher life pursuits. Their ideals have been crushed into slag by reality again and again!
Let’s briefly talk about the selfishness that is respected in the film. In fact, I agree with this point, but the author has overlooked one point. Many people’s selfishness is accompanied by dehumanizing and harmful behaviors. For example, the Sanlu milk powder incident! Like the film's hero and heroine, Dany and Hank, they really are among the best. They are fighting for their ideal career company, which is exciting. Their efforts not only won the respect of the society for themselves, but also created job opportunities of wealth and value for the society. When watching the first episode, the efforts of these two people to withstand pressure from all sides were really touching. But there is another point, as I said, the selfishness of many people is not so pure and pure, so many high-IQ crimes illustrate this example, and the Sanlu incident is endless in China! What's more is the control of the social status of the elites and the adherence to their own interests, so that the opportunity for the bottom people to struggle selfishly turns into a bubble, and the fighting spirit that is respected in the film becomes an empty slogan!
Well, let's go back to the film itself, the whole substitution in the second episode is really uncomfortable! Even in the second episode, the mystery of the disappearance of the elite was solved, the meaning of A Tesla's shrug was explained, the past of 20th Century Dynamics was informed, the true identity of the Iron Triangle was explained, and further foreshadowing was laid, but The rhythm of the second episode is still too slow, and the unrecognizable characters of the characters always give people a sense of drama in terms of coherence!

    Midas Mulligan: Who's asking?

John Galt: Someone who knows what it's like to work for himself and not let others feed off the profits of his energy.

Midas Mulligan: That's funny. That's exactly what I've been thinking.

John Galt: We're alike, you and I.

    Midas Mulligan: Who are you?

  • Dagny Taggart: I'm not interested in their opinion.
