Friendship under the freezing point

Last year's Best Picture in the "Un Certain Regard" category at Cannes happened to be exactly the same as the award-winning "White God" the year before, both related to animals. Of course, "The Ram" is much better. This is not the kind of environmental protection theme that looks at the human world from the perspective of animals. The director tells a simple and simple family story. The sheep is the bond between two brothers who are old and dead. A straightforward story can be appealing without narrative skills and suspense, especially with the Nordic sense of humour that runs through the film and the natural landscape of Iceland displayed on camera. There is no crying and exaggeration, and the grievances and hatreds between the two brothers all show the appeal of affinity in the plot. Even in the living environment of ice and snow, family affection can be as fiery. The flames melted the knots in the heart that were separated by more than half a century, just like the touching scene at the end of the film.

Icelanders are really simple and stubborn. Because of the stability and development of their society, as well as their small population and weak sense of class, I think that on the whole, Icelanders are simply a little naive. This kind of innocence is a kind of luck most of the time, but occasionally they feel that their minds are a little simpler, and there are some things that they can't really understand. What this film reflects is the simplicity of the Icelanders, and the film is not too exaggerated.

It's a pity that I read it while dozing off, and maybe I can't understand the mood of sheep like human life. At first, the scene of the old man being intimate with the sheep always reminded me of woody allen's sex book...
