"Poor Gaspard"

This is undoubtedly the most intriguing line in the film.

Many people speculated that maybe Roland was the whistleblower, but in fact, the director had already given the clues very clearly. Based on the true story, Giovanni was jailed in 1948 for his involvement in a racketeering operation. In that crime, three people were murdered, but Giovanni himself was not responsible for the deaths. His death sentence was commuted to 20 years of hard labor, during which time he participated in the dramatic escape from "Le Trou." The film begins with one of the prisoners, Rowland, who tells viewers that his friend Jacques Baker made a movie about his escape. Roland is played by Jean Keraudy, one of Giovanni's accomplices in the real events of "Le Trou". This failed escape took place in the director's fictional story, the conspiracy theory is untenable, and the whistleblower is indeed Gaspard, so how do you understand this meaningful sentence?

1. The warden's claim of withdrawing the case was false, saying he was pitiful because he was taken advantage of.

2. Gaspard will continue to be in prison, and his report on his fellow inmates will surely be known to everyone in the prison. It can be seen from the prison guards tearing off his tie. Even the law enforcement officers despise such a betrayal. The friend's villain, plus his little lover is about to leave for the UK, his wife refuses to withdraw the lawsuit and has no intention of forgiveness, and no one will provide him with rich materials, and it is self-evident what life will be in the future. So he is poor.

The problem is, if the warden intends to deceive, then he should be aware of the secret actions of these people. From the conversation between the warden and Gaspard, as well as the attention of the warden to Room 11, it is more or less implied. He knew what these people were going to do, but why didn't he do a thorough investigation in advance and use Gaspard's whistleblower to catch the culprit. Do you still remember the two prison guards that Roland met when he first went underground with his helpers?

Here's the line: "Look at this animal, this is your food". The guards throw the prepared bugs (bait) onto the web. At the same time, it also gave a big close-up of Cobweb and the prison guard.

Becker doesn't get bored enough to close up a useless shot, especially when the entire movie is scribbled.

Spiders build their webs to wait for their prey, and the warden casts webs to "solve" a major case and seek political achievements. If he checked too early and everything has not yet started, things won't be able to make a big splash. He needs someone to tell him how far things have gone, and only when these people are caught on the spot at a perfect time can the goal be achieved.

Looking back at Gaspard, he was different from other prisoners in two ways. 1. He dresses well, speaks politely , and lived a prosperous life before he was imprisoned . The prisoners are all working class.

The film never directly addresses the reasons for several people being held in prison. Although the four have different personalities, they are all portrayed as honest and reliable figures, and they have never defended their crimes from beginning to end. In silence, they established loyalty and made sacrifices, and Gaspard did not have the quality of loyalty of his cellmates. He cheated and tried to kill his wife for an inheritance (no matter how self-defense, it does not need to be carefully He loaded all three guns on the ground), the so-called unintentional wounding is just a rhetoric to gain sympathy, such a person who is not determined, who loves vanity and is full of lies, is the easiest to handle.

After finishing the details, let's sort it out from the beginning:

The warden has been paying attention to Cell No. 11 for a long time, but he has been unable to start because he could not find the right time. Gaspard attempted to shoot his wife for the inheritance, but the defendant was jailed after the failure. The wife refused to drop the lawsuit. Due to the renovation of the cell, he was placed in the cell of Roland and his party. During the routine inspection, a gilded lighter was found, so he was taken to see the warden, which attracted the attention of the warden. He played tricks and left the money to the warden in order to make it easier for him in the future.

The warden paid attention to his case and found that this person could be used, so he increased supervision and waited for the change. The spider's web has been knotted, just waiting for its prey to be hooked. At the same time, Roland's prison escape plan is about to be implemented, and the trial is imminent. It cannot be delayed. Gaspard's appearance has brought everything to a deadlock. During the chat, I learned that Gaspard was charged with attempted murder, and the sentence would be severe. Seeing that Gaspard had sufficient motives to escape with them, after thinking about it, they still told the plan, what did Gaspard think? Having to face decades of imprisonment, he agreed to escape together in panic. After he really participated in the escape, he found that these people were very self-disciplined and well-planned, and he suddenly felt a sense of participation. He had never and did not need to work hard for survival before, but now he was participating in such a thing that was enough to save his life. After such a confession, this feeling is nothing but a desperate moment of blood, class differences and the nature of greed for enjoyment are destined to not last long.

On the eve of his escape, the warden sent a message to see him, and looking at the restless young man in front of him, the warden took off his glasses, it was time to close the net.

The warden gave him a choice to get out of prison in an open and honest way, while retaining a decent material life. What is he going to do? Do you want to keep the secret strictly, but even if the escape is successful, he can't make a living, and no one is waiting for him outside. So... what about whistleblowing? He will have a bad reputation as a traitor, and he has no dignity at all, but what kind of honor does a man who seeks his wife's money and hangs out with his aunt have any honor, and he knows that he will be released from prison soon, so what's the point of being scorned.

Unfortunately, he was taken advantage of, and the guards roughly tore off his tie and pushed him into another cell.

Rowland's words "poor Gaspard" were calm, even sympathetic.

Roland should have known that he was being targeted, and also understood why the warden did not investigate thoroughly. Like the warden, he only wanted an opportunity. If he was lucky, they would be able to keep the guard under the watchful eye. who is faster. They don't trust Gaspard, but jailbreak is imminent, can they give up? No, this is their only hope in their long prison life, no matter how dangerous it is, they have to give it up. Roland was not surprised when the final plan was revealed, it was just another expected ending.

    A hole doesn't equal a jailbreak

[A+] The more movies I watch, the more I like these pure movies. The originator of the prison break movie did not pursue the sophistication and freshness of the strategy as much as the imitators of later generations, or any other type of hybrid. On the contrary, the escape methods in it are actually very "simple", and the scenes of the whole movie are all confined to the prison, which is to honestly tell the story of a group of prisoners escaped from prison. But it's still quite exciting. There is almost no background music in the whole film. It relies on character activities, plot arrangements, lighting and over-amplified sound effects to create the atmosphere. The reversal at the end is also quite interesting, the mirror flipping scene is really scary, no horror movie can compare...
