I'm interested in "The Veil" not only because it has my favorite Xia Yu in it (although it's an optional green leaf), but mainly because it's a love story that happened during the time of cholera. Because the only time I got sick in college was mistaken by the doctor as "cholera", I was almost isolated like SARS. It's scary enough to think about now.
Although the line "Women won't fall in love with a man because of his high moral character" may not sound particularly comfortable, it is true and objective. I think that only by lifting the veil that blocks the communication between people's hearts can people find their true love.
When I just finished watching the movie, like many people, I was also interested in whose child the little Wharton appeared in the end, but after thinking about it, I forgot, because no matter who the little Wharton was, it was always a child. It's not important anymore. The only thing that matters is love, and only love can make the story go on…
PS: Although the film was well done, it also won the best original soundtrack at the 64th [Golden Globe Awards] in 2007, but if you can read the novel, I think I will be happier. Read the novel next time :)
