What kind of work is War and Peace? Tolstoy once said: "It is not a legend, not a long poem, especially not a historical account. War and Peace is just the form in which the author wants to express and can express in it what he wants to express." He said is the truth. Mencius once had a similar speech: "I just finished my words." It's as simple as that. Tolstoy believed that literature is only a form of expressing ideas, and as a form, it is far less important than the inner soul. Later generations read "War and Peace" and often call it epic, which actually goes against Toon's wishes.
