Legal doesn't mean everyone can accept it. The father in the film is obviously unacceptable. The father is a pastor and believes in Christianity, but his son is gay. As a father, he doesn't want to accept his son anyway, so at the end of the story, he fails to accept it. Really accept the son. This is the normal state, and there will always be some intolerant and misunderstanding. Fortunately, the son does not live according to his father's wishes, but bravely breaks away and becomes his true self. The son said to his father: "I am gay, I am your son, these are two unchangeable facts, you can only change yourself".
