As said before, I don't recommend anyone to watch this movie, because I'm afraid you will beat me after watching it, and I don't believe you can watch it.
The audience of the movie is very clear, not you or me, nor the market or people who just watch movies for fun, but the academic school who truly believes that movies are art and has experienced the rise and fall of the development of movies from the last century to this century.
I have a habit of not knowing anything but its name before reading a book or watching a movie. Therefore, when I saw the first scene of the first scene, from the color matching and music composition, I guessed that the director was very ambitious, and it was the ambition of the Oscar. In the end, I found out that this is not the scene and atmosphere that the director has devoted his time to to win the Oscar, but the natural expression of the director's genius. Each passage, viewed in isolation, reveals the infinitely enviable inadvertent and genius creativity of a master. The director used this to pay tribute to the entire Oscar history.
It's not so much a movie as it's the inner world of a talented film artist struggling. He is aware of his own division and exhaustion, and the distortion of the art form of cinema: its artistry is slowly dying.
The only reality in the movie, the man who appears out of nowhere, says, "Some people don't believe what they see anymore". The male host responded by saying, "I am for the beauty of interpretation." The man said, "Some people say that beauty exists in the eyes of the audience, and if one day the audience does not exist."
People don't care about art in movies anymore, or rather, people don't care about art anymore.
The director's purpose in making this film is actually to vent his extreme longing for the film industry of Zeng and Jin, as well as his extreme fear of the future development of the film. When he was making a movie, he was actually constantly self-reflection, and at the same time, he released his inspiration and genius that had gradually lost his audience and nowhere to be placed.
I don't know the director or the background of the movie, but I guess the movie has no script, or the script was written by the director himself. This is the world in his mind.
Art is dying, not just the movie industry. This movie was made nearly ten years ago. I wonder how the director would feel when he saw the world today. I have to say, this is the worst of times. But I'm not sure if it's the best of times, at least for art, it's too fast.
Aside from the movie itself, I was excited by the intense sense of nonsense watching this movie, because it's been a long time since I've been able to get over the purpose of doing something that doesn't make sense. After a long absence, I felt free again. (Of course it could also be because I finally finished calculus :)
