It is not accidental to watch this film more than 5 years ago in 2021. The news just came out today that 10 people have been killed in the Qixia Gold Mine accident.
Because I have seen the documentary about the 2010 Chilean mining accident, I feel that this film is quite realistic except for some artistic modifications. What touched me the most was the fact that the 33 miners in the underground shared only a dozen cans and supported each other through the difficult first 17 days. Many commented that the episodes in the film and the dancing of the people on the ground were too joyful and offensive. And, and I think this is precisely the expression of the optimism of Latin Americans. In real events, 33 miners watched the World Cup together, sang the national anthem and raised the national flag together.
For 69 days, no one gave up the hope of life. People on the ground were struggling to rescue them. People on the ground encouraged themselves with their beliefs. Some people may say that there are far more than 33 people who die every day due to various accidents. However, since there are living people. If possible, we should do everything in our power to rescue.
Movies are both inspiring and warning. Miners are indeed a dangerous profession. After watching the movie, we should pay attention to the safety issues in the production of enterprises, and we must not let go of accountability, rather than just how well the rescue work is done.
Finally, this is an American movie, shot in Chile, I think, the language in the play is either English or Spanish, but the English with a Spanish accent in the whole play is really weird.
