Entrepreneurship Diary-My thoughts after watching three episodes of "Silicon Valley"

I spent more than a year in the so-called California entrepreneurial circle with one foot inside and one foot outside. When I watch this show again, I can get some points that I can get.

S01E01

Soon after the opening, the male protagonist who received an offer from the industry’s tens of millions of dollars, went to see the doctor directly without physical discomfort. After talking a lot of nonsense, the doctor pitched his own invented medical accessory product to the protagonist. invest. Everyone in Silicon Valley is either starting a business or preparing to start a business.

Our company stayed in the incubator for more than a year and participated in several startup competitions. Although it was not in Silicon Valley, it was already very aesthetically tired. There are basically two styles of ppt for start-up companies, one is pure science and engineering, without modification, no art, no design, simple and rude. The other is the apprentices and grandchildren of the airbnb template that year, describing how problems exist in a certain industry, how the existing companies and products are not good, how the market potential is huge, and then the conversation is changed, how the company’s solution changes the pattern, Perfect, once and for all, in the words of the play, make the world a better place. Finally, all kinds of imagination of the future are full.

Seeing a lot of pitches and ppts, it’s not easy to choose the real potential stocks with eye-catching eyes among the big and small flickers like mountains and seas. Moreover, success does not depend on sufficient and quantifiable input to obtain a guaranteed outcome. Good ideas, great people, execution ability, resources, and contacts, combined, are no match for luck and coincidence. Success is a metaphysics. Suddenly one day I was taken by the two companies and hit my head with a huge check. This thing is indeed happening. If I get my turn, I'll talk about it elsewhere.

S01E02

The investor was reprimanded for the first interview. The male protagonist who didn't know anything went home and looked up the "business plan" on the wiki. It was just to laugh me to death. This scene is too real.

As a company founded mainly by business people, when there is nothing, there is a business plan. However, with the launch of the website and Zhengerbajing began to serve users, other things have to be slowly gathered.

Therefore, every day in various wikis and Googles, the terms of use are all pieces of our own, crawling and reprocessing on the web pages of various competitors and similar companies. In the start-up company, everything is done by yourself by rolling up your sleeves. It was not until later that we took the investment that we sent our various documents to the lawyer for formal revision.

Since we are a B2C "retail" industry, we will receive all kinds of user complaints, threats, and warnings, and we will receive a real lawyer's letter once. None of us were heads of legal background, so we got together to think about countermeasures. From time to time, we also have to send letters to warn customers who violate the rules. Coupled with the various internal procedures, rules, records and filings, they are slowly exploring, from draft to polish to revision to upgrade, and only when you get to the iron will you ask for help. Many legal websites have off the shelf products that can be used. Think about the quotations of lawyers, most of the time you still have to bite the bullet and put it on your own.

S01E03

The name of the company is also a metaphysics. In the show, their names are registered by other companies, and this is absolutely certain. Any short word or two words that match smoothly, you can think of, the domain name has already been registered. We were also like in a drama at the time. A bunch of people were sitting in brainstorm, finding out the keywords of the company’s products, and then looking for a bunch of synonyms, tossing over and over to combine, derive, and change patterns, and immediately check whether the domain name of the word is still there. How much is it sold? Has the trademark been registered? The discussion went to no avail.

One day, I took a bath, ate, drank coffee, shit and watched various routines on TV. Suddenly, a word popped up in my head. It finally became the current name of our company. Not to mention amazing, but it's pretty good, easy to read, and easy to remember, it's 75 points. I’m quite proud of this, the company’s name came from me~

Another shot is that they just confirmed that they got the investment, they have found an intern to come and squeeze, helping the aviato man wash the car. I am embarrassed to say that we are also big squeezers of intern. This kind of worthless thing like car washing is definitely not possible, but finding intern to write articles and social media posts is the only way for most startups. The company next to our incubator was jealous that we had a good relationship with university teachers. They recruited interns to help us work for free every three days, so they also ran to the university to bring in a few code farmers. It didn't take long to find that the college students really had limited sense of responsibility, and they were dismissed one after another.

Start-up companies need free labor, interns need work experience to accumulate resumes, but this kind of mutual use relationship is often not so compatible. There is no ready-made company structure and training mechanism, or even no one to bring it. Interns usually have to take the initiative to "find something to do" and take the initiative to split a simple task into a complete, complex, and long-term project. It is a pity that most interns just want to add a note to their resumes. When they really do things, they don't have such a mentality. Gradually, they get separated from the company and go their own ways.

When I joined the company myself, I had the title of marketing. In fact, I did everything, customer service, operations, data, etc., whether or not, I would rely on myself to get started. This is exactly the fun of starting a business. Too much work, addictive. I already feel that I will never go back to work from nine to five.

The fire is really in place. I watched many moving places in one breath. I wandered in the bubble of "changing the world" and forced to install on Mars. Where there are so many noble and beautiful, it’s not like the code written by the small fresh media. The code needs to be written line by line. Users need to pull one by one. Hesitating in the face of opportunities and temptations, but these are as light as a feather for the elderly, learn to solve all kinds of unreliable, learn to be reliable, or never to be reliable

Amazingly refreshing! Watching the first episode is too appetizing.
