A passion that never fades. (La passion est éternelle.)
To witness the birth of his first child, Nicolo Bussotti, a stringed instrument maker, set out to create a great work. But his wife died in childbirth at the time, and the demon-possessed gift quickly spread among celebrities. Unbearable Nikolai put all his energy into his work and decided to create a timeless gift in tribute to his love: a perfect violin that dipped his soul. Then, the story of the red violin begins, a story that unfolds across continents, cultures and centuries, with inspiring enthusiasm and lingering affection, unfolding among all those who are moved...
The film takes the violin as a clue and takes different countries and cultures across the centuries as the background. It tells the story of: the musical prodigy of the Vienna court, the aristocratic musicians in Paris, the revolutionary convention and parade of Chinese culture, and finally the auction in Canada. On the scene, time and space, countries, and cultures are all alternated, and only the violin is the eternal protagonist. The tone of the entire film is relatively gloomy, and the footage has a strong sense of history, suitable for quiet enjoyment. The film was awarded the Academy Award for Best Original Music in 1998. It is best to have some knowledge of the violin before watching this film, or those who love the violin themselves will help to understand and appreciate the music in the film.
