8mm-1999

complete series of movies, in order to watch "8MM" the second Department, read this one again. Among the movies I have watched before, this one can be regarded as the one that left a deep impression on me. Looking again, many scenes faintly appeared in my mind. So, this time it didn't bring me much surprise.

This is a typical black crime film. The story cannot be said to be simple, but it is not very complicated. A private investigator was hired to investigate the authenticity of a movie film. With the deepening of the investigation, the truth of the matter emerged, and an industry full of conspiracy and darkness gradually appeared in front of the audience. At the end of the film, the private detective becomes a justice messenger, punishing those culprits outside the law. This is a very depressing movie, and it is uncomfortable to watch it, even the second time.

The film's narrative method is very conventional. According to the development of the story, as the detectives approach the truth step by step, they also let the audience deeply understand a dirty industry lurking underground. The overall structure of the film is very good, not fast or slow, slowly approaching the truth of the matter, like a cocoon. It's not like all kinds of movies nowadays, which play with fancy narrative techniques, interspersed narratives, flashbacks, etc. It's been a long time since I saw such an orthodox crime movie. Looks quite enjoyable.

As the plot of the film deepens and the story progresses, the tone of the film becomes more and more gloomy and darker. By the end of the film, when the actor wants to kill the masked man, he has moved the scene to the cemetery. Here, it is the ultimate, just like a horror movie. On the whole, the atmosphere of the whole film is also gloomy, which is highlighted by the excellent film music. For example, there are almost no warm-toned shots in the whole film, and there are few rooms where sunlight can be seen. Most of the outdoor scenes are in the shade. The main story is set in the dark. Most of the characters in the film basically have no smiles. The depiction of a city is the kind of chaotic, vulgar shots, not like Los Angeles and New York in other movies. Just such a film, watching two hours in low, gloomy music is definitely not a good sensory experience.

Through the film, we can really feel the true state of the United States. This is the world of the rich, not the paradise of the poor. The rich do whatever they want, and the poor are "slaughtered" by others, and no one cares. You can also learn about the status quo of the underground photography industry in the United States and the dark side of human nature. However, the film still leaves the audience with hope-even if the world is dark, there are still good people, and the male protagonist is such a person.

Through this film, combined with the American movies I have watched before, I found that many people disappeared in the 1990s in the United States, and no one really cared. There are too many movies describing similar missing persons. For example, the recent "Silent Lamb" is one. Was this true in the 1990s in the United States? Parents don't care if their children leave, the police don't care if they can find someone, and not every murder case can be closed? The law and order in the United States is really not very good. One more thing, why have you rarely seen similar films since 2000? Society has changed?

As for the actors, there is no need to say more, several roles are outstanding, whether it is the protagonist or the supporting role. Nicolas Cage, Joaquin Phoenix, James Gandolfini, Peter Stormare, Catherine Keener, these few are now well-known, now it is difficult to get them together to make a movie. Finally, I would like to praise Nicolas Cage. His performance in this film is very good, unassuming, introverted, tough, and worthy of being the actor.

In general, a black crime movie that is very depressing and not a good viewing experience, it is enough to watch such a movie once. And with the end of the film, the story is over, what can be done in the sequel? Wait and see.

7 points, I don't watch much of Joaquin's movies, but I didn't even realize that he played the little bastard. The discussion forum said that this movie was based on "Dance of the Slaughterhouse", is that considered plagiarism? Even if this aspect is not considered, the subject matter of this movie is good, and the atmosphere is acceptable, but the whole film is extremely mediocre.

Cage's performance in this film is his best in all films, surpassing Birdman. Seeing that the director is Schumacher will understand. This movie made me think, reflect, and ask questions about the protagonist in the film. Sex and violence seem to cross the border secretly at a time. Think of the island country’s love action movies, a sense of control runs through, maybe this is the budding of violence. evil eats you. Do you accidentally have a lot of things and thoughts wrong?
