Life is so easy to be lonely and sad, we need your presence even more

When I look at my chaotic life over the past two decades, I see that I am like Eli in the film Rust and Bone, struggling to cope with the hardships and tortures of life, displaced and struggling to survive. We struggle and do our best to meet incessant needs and avoid all kinds of misery. Life never seemed to make me feel strong enough, when I saw Eli struggling in the fight, Stephanie's desperation when he woke up in the hospital, Sam's helplessness after Eli was yelled at, I suddenly felt that our lives were in harmony. Ants are no different from running and floating to survive. We are just humble and insignificant beings. We are running blindly and laboriously for survival, but we are seeking a physical existence, so that this troubled individual can survive and maintain for a short period of time. Life is so easy to be lonely and sad. We therefore need your presence even more.

Eli. As a single father, you can see the difficulty and downfall of life from the thin and pale image of his son Sam. No stable job, no permanent residence, erosive sex life, short temper, passive avoidance, lack of sense of responsibility.

stephanie. After experiencing ups and downs, losing both legs unexpectedly, and despairing several times, she gradually regained her confidence in life through her relationship with Aili.

sam. Unfortunate accidental child, single parent family, displaced childhood, no friends, lack of love, thin body, often reprimanded and scolded by his father, few words, withdrawn and indifferent, almost drowned under ice once.

Reminds me of those little moments in the movie. Sam was hungry, and his father searched the car for a pile of leftover food and fruit. Thinking back to what you were like ten years ago, and imagining what you will be like ten years from now, will life be so embarrassing that you will be displaced and starving. When Sam saw the foster dog being picked up, he rushed downstairs several times to stop him. The dogs were like playmates to Sam, he'd rather be in a cage with them, he needed company, and his father was so busy running around that he forgot about him in the empty school. For Sam, life is lonely and insecure. His struggles didn't even resist, only crying, and when Eli asked Sam to kiss him, Sam firmly said no several times. His feelings for his father were fearful and distant. The incident of Sam accidentally falling under the ice while skating reflects the unfortunate fate of a child in a single-parent home environment, and a father's lack of responsibility and a living environment of uncertainty can lead to even more unfortunate things.

Faced with the hardships and sorrows of life, everyone has their own struggles, and there is no need for anyone to sympathize with the other. What we have experienced and suffered will pass, and time and the fact of death will heal us.

"If the palm is broken, the bones will never grow." Not so much an inspirational story, it is more like a story of a man's growth, or a story of two mutilated people saving each other. At the beginning, I felt that there were too many clues in the story, but only after seeing the second half did I find that each clue was a catalyst for the growth of the male protagonist. Curious about how Marion's broken leg was taken? The heroine nomination for the next Oscar is probably safe!

The soundtrack needs to be cautious, common cases such as too full, too stupid, blind dick sensational and so on. More often it is about the director's artistic accomplishment. For example, this little song in the opening 2 minutes completely destroyed my interest in watching the movie.

    Stéphanie: Yes.
