Macedonia in 1994 has already produced such excellent films, no less than "Crash", "Babel", "21 Grams" and so on. Putting these films together just because the structure and subject matter are slightly similar is bound to be reckless, but I do see a relatively more valuable temperament in "Heavy Rain" - simplicity and unity. I didn't feel that the director was showing off his skills, and he didn't feel that it was patchwork and far-fetched, and it didn't require the audience to think about it, because it itself is a circle with a unified temperament.
The drumbeat of Central Asia, the chanting of the monastery, the clear blue sky and the muddy earth, the rhythm slowed down, and time seemed to stand still. However, the phrase "the circle is not there" made me ponder for a long time. Why isn't the circle there? I can't understand, the three stories are linked end to end, obviously they are "circles", so I can't explain them. Maybe "the circle is not there" is just a kind of prayer, praying for the end of the grievances? Pray for the end of the raging war? But the reality is like the ring structure of the film. There has never been a man-made disaster. From the chaotic barren land to the taverns of the bustling city, the people who hate and agitate are like flies before the rainstorm. Of course, these are the so-called "summaries" after reading it, but when I really watch it, it is really like being in the sweltering heat before a rainstorm. Another temperament of the film is the balance between oppression and poetry.
