The senior female reporter played by Streep clashed with her boss who pursued the commercial value of news because of her insistence on the justice of the news report. At the end of the film, she took a taxi and passed the White House, the Lincoln Memorial, and the cemetery. In the camera, she was in tears, and she had to choose between survival (there is still an old mother who needs 24-hour care at home) and insisting on faith.
At the end of the film, the cynical young man learned of the senator's new strategy in Afghanistan through the subtitles under breaking news. The news made him reconsider whether to engage in politics or escape reality. The second clip also hints at the female reporter's choice...
