To be honest, I was a little disappointed, mainly because Li Changdong had the aura of the Cannes script and the title of "Poetry", but there was no special surprise. Even the two hours and 20 minutes, the painful social regrets, the uncertain images of the characters, and the master-level images cannot support the "poetry" that truly belongs to the film.

The excessively intuitive expression of poetry hurts the coherence of the film and adds to the contrived feeling; and the slightly procrastinating rhythm is not to be excused by poetic sentimentality.

But there is no denying that the level is there, it feels better than "Miryang", and there are many brilliant strokes, and the Cannes script is not for nothing.
