I watched the French version first and was blown away by the way it was played. However, the French version uses a lot of narrative on the psychological panic of the characters and all kinds of useless shots to create the atmosphere - this is the main reason why French films repeatedly go to strangers.
Of course, the French version has more necessary plots than the American version. For example, in the end, before the Wu Yusen-style muzzle-to-muzzle, there was a 4-player duel. Removed from the US version.
However, watching the film again, I suddenly had one more point of thought - this is actually an economics issue: in
the end, the protagonist received a bonus of 1.85 million US dollars. At first glance it looks like a lot. However, this game is not played by the protagonist alone. It is played by at least 10 people. But it was clear to everyone that the rest would not get any money. Therefore, equivalent to only 180,000 per person. But don't forget, the people who choose you get multiple times that, without risking their lives at all.
So, this goes back to the source of capital. Why is it that after some people have resources, they can be above life. Everyone knows the answer: this is a capitalist society

I watched the French version first and found it to be sluggish, however, the American version wasn't much better and felt uninnovative and disappointing.

    Leanne Ferro: I'm here.

Clara Ferro: [running out of the house] Mom! You forgot it. Are you sure this is the right thing? It feels like we barely even thought about it.

    Leanne Ferro: Yeah, we did.

Vince Ferro: We don't have any other option, Clara.

    Clara Ferro: Okay.
