Too much horror, not enough suspense.

Maybe it's because of the chainsaw and the like, that they were still imagining that their boat suddenly exploded at the last second, and the three of them sank to the bottom of the lake. Then the old man in the room slowly stood up with an evil smile, took out a gun, and fired four shots, four big characters "Please watch the next episode" appeared on the screen.
As far as finding the murderer is concerned, although there are twists and turns, the murderer's trick is slightly simpler and less detailed than some American dramas. What if Fermat turned back and didn't meet the police? The old man is going to fight one against three and then break through the wall to escape?
As far as the math puzzles in the movie are concerned, it is not difficult for the Chinese audience cultivated by years of test-oriented education. Well, I admit that the title of the hourglass did not come to my mind.

The problem is indeed a little bit lower, the level of the Mathematical Olympiad. The overall layout is a bit small, and it feels like it's over without seeing anything new.

    Here is a short comment on mathematical formula: 1, 4, 11, 27, 61, 133, (?)

Fermat's Room quotes

  • Hilbert: This reminds me of the riddle about the shepherd who has to cross the river in a boat with a sheep, a wolf and a cabbage. You know it? Only two can go in the boat. For example, the shepherd and the sheep, or the shepherd and the cabbage. You have to work out how he can cross the river without the wolf eating the sheep or the sheep eating the cabbage.

Pascal: Why would a shepherd bring a wolf? What's more, I don't see what it has to do with this situation.

Oliva: Perhaps Professor Hilbert meant that one of us is the shepherd; another, the wolf; another, the sheep; and another, the cabbage.

  • Galois: You think it'll resist?

Pascal: Pressure is unpredictable. It can turn coal into dust or a diamond.

    Hilbert: Was that Archimedes?

    Pascal: No, MacGyver.
