The story takes place in a small southern American town where racial prejudice is deeply rooted. The protagonist Hank (Billy Bob Taunton) grew up in a conservative white family, and he served as a guard on death row in a small town prison. One of Hank's duties is to help carry out the execution. Hank's father, Buck, was an extreme racist and conservative, and in his family, even too much emotional outpouring was inappropriate. Hank has lived in the shadow of his father all his life. His life and thoughts seem to repeat the trajectory of his father.
Recently, Hank just executed a black man on death row. Unexpectedly, Hank accidentally met the widow of a black death row inmate, Lazia (Halle Berry), and fell in love with this poor black woman, causing an uproar in a family that adhered to racial prejudice.

Happy Birthday Heath Ledger. In honor of seeing a supporting role. ...other than that, this is the "black and white" version of Brokeback Mountain. It's all to burst out something to stimulate Oscar.

Nima. It is said that the passion scene on the sofa is the best, but the one I watched was the edited version, and I watched the woolen yarn.
