Charlize Theron's performance in this film is definitely worthy of the title of actress that year. I suggest you watch the Documentary video on Youtube about Aileen Wuornos, the first female serial killer in history. After watching it, you will admire Charlize Theron even more. In the performance of this film, Aileen's sometimes fierce and sometimes fragile demeanor was brought to the screen by her. Relatively speaking, I think the director of this film is a bit mediocre. With such a wonderful story, her filming is a bit cliché. I don't like Christina Ricci's character, why should she be so weak? In real life Aileen's partner didn't deserve any sympathy at all.
