The scariest subtitle in the world is when the person subtitles doesn't understand what the film is saying at all.
For example: When a young man asked WILL why a certain gentleman can be an executive of this investment bank at the age of 40, he said:
"That happens all the time, except to me. He is a killer." It
was translated as: "That kind of happens all the time, except for me, he's a murderer."
Okay.
Another example: the key scene of KEVIN SPACY changing his mind:
PETER SULIVAN (calculate the horses who hold a lot of junk assets in the whole company): I think I know your son.
SAM (played by MD, KEVIN): REALLY?
PETER: NOT WELL. BUT HE ALWAYS SEEM LIKE A NICE PERSON
SAM: HE IS A NICE PERSON. . . . . . . . . . .
peter: does he know what is going to happen?
sam: what do you mean?
peter: did you ever talk to him
sam: no...I wouldn't thought............( The father was lost in thought, unable to speak)
was translated as:
PETER: I think I know Sammy. . . . . . . . .
WTF...Semi? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ! ! ! !
And the most outrageous one:
DEMI MOORE: LOOKING BACK, IT WAS EXPRESSED WITH INSUFFICENT URGENCY.
Translated as: Looking back, there was an unnecessary sense of urgency before. . . MLGB, INSUFFICENT can be translated into the opposite meaning.
