I think the director wants to arouse the audience's sense of crisis in the end times, and the other wants to express that even if the end times come, human beings can still gradually adapt, because what we really depend on for survival is emotion. In this case, the tone of this film should be like the last scene of the film: the morning light in the thick fog, not dazzling, the body temperature in the cold wind. However, most of the film's tone is more gloomy and depressing: the colors, the music, the emotions between the characters. Makes the movie feel a little out of balance. In addition, the last large narration is purely redundant. The embrace of two people, the world darkens, and the sound of breathing is the best ending.
