I don't want to presume who is the righteous side. In the war, there is no right or wrong for the fighters on both sides of the war. They are not the ones who started the war, they are only the executors of the war and the biggest victims. It is usually described as cruel in the habit of war, but the performance in the movie can be said to be tragic, not to mention the soldiers who actually went to the battlefield.
