Heaven and earth have great beauty without speaking, life has great sorrow without knowing.

"The sky and the earth are dark and yellow, the universe is prehistoric" comes from the first sentence of "Thousand Characters".
Baraka is an ancient Islamic Sufi word meaning "blessing".
The film director team took 14 months and traveled to more than 150 regions in 24 countries and 5 continents to shoot this 96-minute film. Breathtaking and overwhelming.
After reading it, I felt that I needed to write something, but I also felt that I had no idea where to start. There are no lines in the whole film, you never know how the next scene will take you by surprise. I divided the film into three parts to understand:
The first part - pure soul. The snowy scenery of the Himalayas, the tranquility of a Tibetan theater, the contemplative expression of the monkey in the Japanese hot spring, these are the treasures of pure nature. From the temples of Kathmandu to the Wailing Wall in Israel to the spinning dances in Turkey. The thing that caught my eye the most was the Kaikake dance in Bali. This dance with a strong religious and magical color reminded me of the origin of dance: imitation, game theory, witchcraft, and sex. People express their most devout emotions with their own mysterious words and body movements. The simple dress of the Kayabu Indians reminds me of the indigenous people in primitive society. All kinds of scenery are very beautiful, the sun rises and sets, the sky is constant, and the heaven and the earth are beautiful without words.
Part II - Man and Eternity. The film was released in 1992. With the development of social economy, machine labor has gradually replaced manual labor, and the improvement of labor productivity in labor society has also brought people into a new era. Maybe Rio de Janeiro is not as poor as it was when it was filmed, and the reinforced concrete forests of Hong Kong no longer exist, but I think there is still no shortage of people coming and going at the Shinjuku subway station. Cars come and go on Pike Street, people work endlessly every day, stress and motivation coexist, and the cycle goes on and on. Everyone thinks that they are the masters of their lives. Who would have guessed that we are actually just like the little yellow chickens in the chicken farm. From one place to another, without even noticing. He didn't even dare to shout. Life is not eternal, but reincarnation can be.
Part Three: Death and Redemption. We will die, and no matter how grand the funeral, how luxurious the place where the body is buried, the dead will not be able to enjoy it. All we can take away is the soul. Our souls will travel fearlessly along the pilgrimage path that we made during our lifetime. Our souls are also like the tantric monk who walked quietly through the streets of Tokyo, holding a vajra bell, hiding in the city and the world, redeeming our souls and praying for the stability of the next life.
The final shot of the film is a sky full of stars. The earth is just a speck of dust in the nature of the universe. Although it is beautiful, it is small. And our insignificance is comparable to a grain of sand in the Ganges, how can the power of sand be able to compete with the gigantic universe? So, stop hurting nature, live in harmony with her, and be friends with this behemoth.

Religion not only brings hope to mankind, but also brings suffering and sin. The most shocking thing about this documentary is that it makes people think about this issue only through the video without dialogue.
