Before downloading "The White House Butler" on pptv, I saw a lot of comments saying that the movie was bland or even dull, and it was just a running account.
But after reading it, I want to say that this is the most beautiful and touching running account I have ever seen!
Regardless of the movie stars in it (because I don't know--), after watching the whole movie, the content of the running account is bit by bit, giving people a wave of shock. When the black movement finally matures, the blacks gain more and more rights, the old housekeeper is getting older, and the movie ends. At this time, I was in a trance: it turned out that more than two hours had passed!
Watching the black movement develop along the way is really moving. Although the ending is controversial, it does feel flattering when Obama was elected president. But looking at the history of black people, the election of a black man as president is indeed an epic event, and it is understandable that this should end there.

Theme movies all over the world are doing the same thing, and the same is true for American themes. It could have done a job, but the ending was a bit disgusting.

It's not a bad idea to make such a warm account of biographies. It's more reliable than the blind flashbacks of "The Biography of Hoover". The only person in the so-called All-Star lineup that interests me a bit is Jacqueline Kennedy, who is actually Autumn in (500) Days of Summer. . .

Lee Daniels' The Butler quotes

  • Maynard: Cecil, we got two faces: ours, and the ones that we got to show the white folks. Now, to get up in the world, you have to make them feel non-threatened. Use that, them fancy words that I've taught you. White folks up north, they like some uppity coloreds. Yeah.

  • Martin Luther King Jr.: Young brother, the black domestic defy racial stereotypes by being hardworking and trustworthy. He slowly tears down racial hatred with his example of a strong work ethic and dignified character. Now, while we perceive the butler or the maid to be subservient, in many ways they are subversive, without even knowing it.
