From the poster to the name to the movie scene, "The Year of Violence" seems to imply that the audience is a gangster blockbuster. After watching it, I found that the film is indeed related to the gangster, but no one wants to see those kinds of awesomeness. The film tells the story of a New York oil businessman in the 1980s who was between his idealism and cruel reality. The story is flat and straightforward, more realistic and low-key. This kind of drama has always been applauded or not even necessarily applauded. Intriguing, when the desperate driver committed suicide in front of Abel with a headshot at the end, the bullet leaked through the barrel of crude oil, and the scene where Abel stepped forward to block the bullet hole with a handkerchief proved this just right.

It seems to be a very calm laying out narrative, but there are ups and downs everywhere, and the director's strength is evident. The style of the film is cold and dark. When you see the overall image of the male protagonist, you will inevitably think of Al Pacino in The Godfather. Oscar Isaac's performance in the film is very outstanding and full of tension. At the end, you can feel the real cruelty and violence of that era in the male protagonist.
