Such as Polanski's "Knife in the Water", Gonzalez's "Love is a Bitch", Coppola's "Death of the Virgin", Miller's "Capote", Jia Zhangke's "Xiao Wu" and Taco Fsky's "Ivan's Childhood" is exactly the same, this is Nolan's aggressive and sure-footed debut, and it's the kind of movie that will keep the director immersed in it all his life, like a spell. He is the kind of quiet guy who is delicate on the inside and cold on the outside. He lies at the window and looks at the outdoors with warm and affectionate eyes. His films, like his compatriots Hitchcock and Edgar Allan Poe, are acutely cold and desolate, a circle of quan charming English patients.
