How Green Was My Valley (1941) - Best Picture at the 14th Academy Awards

This film is like a cup of green tea, the first sip is bland and tasteless, the second sip is slightly bitter, and the more you drink, the more flavorful and aftertaste Even sweet.
The film tells about the changes of the Morgan family, ranging from firewood, rice, oil and salt, to life and death. It may feel a little boring at first, but gradually it is like chewing betel nut. The whole tone of the movie is a bit depressing, sometimes a little warm, sometimes sad, and has been in a state of forbearance and unbreakable. Whether it's love or family, it seems that it can't get what you want, but it is full of real warmth. The structure of the film looks very loose, but every static picture is full of power, showing the deepest emotions of the characters from time to time. Under the director's lens, even the suffering seems to shine with a warm and moving light.
I have never seen a film about the mine before, and when I followed Xiu into the mine, it was really shocking. Many pictures of the mine were shocking. Life is like this movie, the longer it gets, the more mellow it gets. Maybe this cup of nostalgia is what each of us wants to drink but refuses to drink.
"I love Qingshan Cuigu so much, this cup of bitter coffee is brewed with three points of sweetness and seven points of bitterness." The

How Green Was My Valley quotes

  • Dai Bando: [Cyfartha is holding Mr. Jonas in boxing position] Now look, to make a good boxer, you must have a good... *right hand*, you see?

[strikes Mr. Jonas with a right jab, the force of which knocks Mr. Jonas into the wall]

Dai Bando: Now, you see, that is how you will punish your man - with a right and a left, and put your shoulder into it!

[Mr. Jonas is slumped against the wall, dazed]

Cyfartha: The gentleman is talking to you!

  • Dai Bando: Position again.

[Dai Bando and Cyfartha drag Mr. Jonas to his feet]

Dai Bando: Could I have your attention, boys and girls? I am not accustomed to speaking in public...

    Cyfartha: Only public houses.

    Dai Bando: But this -

[backhands Mr. Jonas in the nose, sending him sprawling]

Dai Bando: never use. It's against the rules. Break a man's nose. Now then -

[turns to find Mr. Jonas collapsed against the wall, unconscious]

Dai Bando: I'm afraid he will never make a boxer.

    Cyfartha: No aptitude for knowledge.
