Claire Denis isn't easy to imitate

I always thought it was a small, fresh and interesting American independent film before watching it, but it turned out to be a work of European author's literary style. Based on this, this film is destined to not attract as much attention and resonance as the Oscar film "Moonlight", although both works focus on the process of questioning and identifying with gay boys about their sexuality. The style of this film is quite delicate, with simple dialogue, continuous close-up shots of faces, hands and male carcasses, and there is a subtle desire in the shots. However, the master style is not so easy to imitate. On the one hand, the American female director wants to show her unique author style, but on the other hand, she still wants to follow the narrative style of small and fresh themes. Love, family and companions go hand in hand, but she keeps falling into the chaotic rhythm, which is too obscure to extricate herself. The language of the scenes is disturbing in the second half, and gradually the story loses the fresh and dreamy feeling created in the first half, and becomes a narcissistic style display.
