It's not enough to watch this movie once. Because of Ledger's death, we've given the film so much meaning, and we've longed for so much. Everyone hoped that this movie would be the perfect ending to Ledger's glorious and short life, but Ledger didn't know this would be his last movie, he couldn't perform beyond the role, those of us The unreasonable demands were unfair to both him and Gilliam. It's really Gilliam's best movie of the decade, and Ledger's performance is impeccable, it's the genre that keeps us from really feeling it. This is not an art film that can greatly infect people like "Brokeback Mountain", nor is it a genre film with a strong box office guarantee like "The Dark Knight", this is an uncompromising CULT film.
