I often say to my patients that if you could put even one-tenth of the courage, interest and energy you had when you were cheating on your marriage, your family life would be very different. Our creative minds seem to be richer when we sin than when we keep our promises.
Yet as I say these words, my mind goes back to the harrowing scene in the movie "Moonwalk," in which Diane Lane's character cheats on a free-spirited salesman whose teenage daughter asks her, "You Love him more than all of us?" The mother replied, "No," but she went on to say, "Sometimes being with different people makes a difference."
