It is too early to let the audience know that the heroine's career as a writer is an illusion, and as a horror film, it lacks a climax. But on the other hand, the director may not pursue the reversal of the plot, but to show the despair in purgatory. After Beth woke up from the dream for the first time, the scene where her sister desperately stuffed her with marshmallows was heart-wrenching. The beautiful dream contrasts with the miserable reality, and the intense despair is indeed vividly and suffocating.
