everywoman

A woman, an ordinary woman, a transgender charming woman, was humbled and bullied to attend the funeral of her lover. The whole film was abused, and the ending was nothing to say. She couldn't participate 'normally', and all she could get was a dog. Thinking that Jiang Sida said that his dog died, and suddenly felt that his love was gone, at least it was a kind of comfort for the heroine to finally get a raised dog. In the whole film, I like the scene where the heroine leans 45º and stands against the wind. It really confirms Nietzsche's saying, "What doesn't kill me will make me stronger?"

Since the rise of the Rainbow Movement, there have been more and more LGBT-related movies. I like a movie review. She can be a drama queen or an everywoman. We are no different.

This is 2017's To Die Like a Man. Even tighter and better. Layers upon layers of social critique, each overlapping with another just a bit, highlighting a different aspect of her experience of this particular positionality. And just the right amount of surrealism.

Not only how to be a woman, but also how to be a complete person who is independent and not subservient to society and others' grievances and not showing weakness. The casting of the heroine is bold and successful. A fantastic woman exactly.

A Fantastic Woman quotes

  • Profesor de Canto: Saint Francis says, Make me an instrument of your love, make me a channel of your peace.

  • Sonia: [to Marina] Sorry if it's crude and blunt of me to say this, but I really think that this is just perversion. Sorry, but... When I look at you, I don't know what I'm seeing. A chimera, that's what I see.

    Marina Vidal: A chimera... yeah.

    Sonia: Sorry.

Marina Vidal: There's no need to be sorry. You're normal, ma'am. You're fine, ma'am.
