My mother’s opinion, the murderer is not Yuanbin

First of all, "Mother" is a good film, even better than the previous "Memories of Murder" and "Han River Monster". The good thing here is that it leaves the actor factor aside and considers it purely from the plot and structure. I always think that the more I think about it, the stronger the feeling after watching it, or that the movies that are worthy of fun are really good movies. No doubt "Mother" did it. I pondered the mystery in the movie until midnight. I wanted to open it and have a look again, but because I thought about it, I got a cold back and waited until dawn.

I won’t say much about the context of the story, but I have a different view of the ending than many others. Judging from the movie, the final murderer did point to Yuan Bin, but there are several details that still need to be speculated.

1. The relationship between the scavenger old man and the dead.
Why did the deceased’s cell phone show pictures of the old man scavengers? According to the students, the victim’s phone will only store pictures of the man who had sex with him. In this case, the old scavenger has definitely seen the victim and probably exchanged the victim's body with rice. So the claim that the old man and Jin Hyezi had never seen the dead is definitely not true.

2. What is the cause of death of the deceased?
According to the old man's statement to Jin Hye-zi, Yuan Bin picked up a rock and threw a stone at the deceased and killed him inadvertently because the deceased called him a fool to stimulate him. As mentioned earlier, since the old scavenger deliberately concealed the fact that he had been in contact with the deceased from Jin Hye-zi, then this statement is obviously unfounded. One thing to note here is that there is no mention of the cause of death of the deceased in the whole film. When the case was repeated, when Yuanbin stoned the dummy that simulated the deceased, the police clearly reprimanded Yuanbin and said, "You throw that. What to do?" From this detail, it can be inferred that the cause of death of the deceased may not be the impact of the stone at all.

3. Who is the murderer.
My opinion is that the murderer is the old man scavenging waste. When the old scavenger tells Jin Huizi about the night, he should notice that one of the shots shows the old man pouring rice into the bag. The background of the pouring rice is a pad like tin foil, that is, the old man said in front of the shop when he was temporarily staying in a broken house. Of cushions. Reminiscent of the deceased's constant use of sex transactions for rice and the pictures of the old man in his mobile phone, it can be inferred that the deceased had an appointment with the old man in the broken house that night. There is no video to explain what happened afterwards, only the scenes that matched the old man's narration appeared, which is not believable. And from the Internet, someone said that the deceased's grandma mumbled such a sentence when looking for the phone-"so that the phone would not fall into the hands of the old man" (I didn't see this sentence, it may be a subtitle problem), indicating that the old man scavengers have been Looking for a mobile phone, then the reasons for looking for a mobile phone need to be considered.

There are two sensible reasons to believe that the old man is a murderer. For one, anyone who has seen memories of murder and the monsters of the Han River knows that there is never a "good person" or a "perfect person" in Bong Joon-ho's movies. If everything is as narrated on the surface of the film, then this old man will be the first person with a sense of justice and fearlessness in Bong Joon-ho's three most iconic films. This is not in line with the director's style. The second is two scenes of Jin Huizi flipping through the phone photos of the deceased in the movie, in which all the men in the photos were secretly taken photos of the back or part of them without paying attention. Only the old scavenger showed his face and his eyes were forgotten. To the camera, I interpret this as a hint left by the director.

4. What did Yuan Bin do when the murder happened.
Yuan Bin didn't kill anyone, but he did the corpse. The reason is that at the end of the film, Yuan Bin told his mother that the murderer put the dead person on the top of the building. It is likely that he saw the dead person shed a lot of blood, and wanted to put her where everyone can see to get help as soon as possible. However, I also contradicted this idea, because when the case was repeated, Yuanbin didn't know how to place the dummy. He even wanted to stand on the railing at first, and put it away only at the cue of the police. Of course, it makes sense to attribute this to Yuanbin's memory obstruction. Later, the reason why Yuanbin was determined to be dead was that if the old man killed the deceased, he would take out the deceased’s cell phone and delete his own photos. But the mobile phone eventually fell into the hands of the deceased's grandmother, indicating that when the old man committed the murder, there must be some unexpected factors that prevented him from further processing the corpse. Combined with thinking about Yuanbin's dead body, the possibility greatly increased.

Although I think my thoughts are very logical, there are still many details in the movie that I can't explain. I recommend this movie here. I hope some of you can contact me after watching it, discuss and discuss together, and enjoy it...
