Tilly, the tailor played by Kate, treats herself like a Parisian lady.
She appeared in a red dress and surprised everyone.
The black dress that I put on afterwards has a stronger aura, even a woman can't look away.
Subsequently, Tilly set off a fashion trend in this small town. Every woman in the town was wrapped in a Chinese dress, like a series of fashion blockbusters.
Huafu is undoubtedly one of the highlights of this movie, but the dark theme is the highlight of the movie.
"The Tailor" actually tells the story of another "dog town". The town of Dangta, which Tilly insists on returning, is not a warm hometown for her, but a nightmare.
Dangta Town is sparsely populated and surrounded by a wasteland. The closed environment has nurtured a group of stupid, ugly, and ruthless residents.
Married grocery store owners who flirt with young guys, pharmacists who don’t want to give medicine to their sick wife, and lecherous sheriffs who dislike the poor and love the rich. They tolerate each other's sordidness, but they can't tolerate a pair of dependent mothers and daughters.
Tilly's mother gave birth to her unmarried, and she has lived in the prejudice and disgust of everyone since she was a child.
The elementary school teacher beat her in public.
The pharmacist insulted her and her mother.
The children in the town abused her and bullied her.
Later she was accused of killing the little bully and was expelled from the town. When she was young, she couldn't remember the details of the case that year. When she grew up, she returned to town to find out if she was a murderer.
She travelled outside for so many years, from Melbourne to Paris, and finally returned to Dangta Town. This is the place where the scars in her heart were planted, and she wanted to be born again here.
While searching for the truth, she used her design talents to satisfy the vanity of the women in Dangta, seeking their acceptance.
But when she approached the truth, she discovered that the boy had died of her own cruel game. The murder was completely false. It was a testimony made up by the elementary school teacher and the county chief in a mess.
The truth is not important at all. In the logic of the residents, Tilly, who everyone hates, deserves to be charged with such a crime.
When Tilly's lover died unexpectedly, Tilly became a target again.
Before that, they seemed to accept her because it was profitable for her. Once she couldn't meet their demands, she turned her face immediately.
Wearing even more avant-garde fashion dresses, they are still vulgar and stupid town residents. Their bright appearance can't conceal their rotten inside, which is disgusting.
Tilly was not cursed anymore, she was just being harmed by ugly human nature.
She left as quietly as she came back. But she left a fire and burned the entire town.
I like this kind of revenge, simply and neatly.
The ugly humanity that can erode goodwill and love can't be changed, it can only be destroyed.
This film is not as profound as "Dogtown", but the comedy elements and hearty ending still make me enjoy it.
