Marie Antoinette, gorgeous, hollow

Marie Antoinette, wife of Louis XVI, princess of the Habsburg dynasty, and queen of the Bourbon dynasty, was guillotined with the king during the French Revolution.

"Marie Antoinette", Sofia Coppola's third film, shows a few fragments of Mary's life from the little princess of Austria to the queen of France. It is extremely gorgeous but inevitably considered hollow.

Probably from the beginning of the music, you should probably know that this movie is definitely not about history, and even the biography is a bit reluctant. The French court in the 18th century was accompanied by rhythmic rock music. The fourteen-year-old little Mary came to Versailles. This magnificent palace absolutely made her feel incredible. Although the prince didn't seem to be very interested in her, and the complicated etiquette of the French court made her a little bored. Married life is not entirely satisfactory, she has not learned the way of survival in this palace, and the birth of a new royal family makes her even more embarrassed. The boring court life naturally has to find something interesting, high heels, folding fans, dresses, crystals, diamonds, lace, fur, cakes, desserts, champagne, and even the chips for gambling are colorful. The princess finally became a queen, and the little girl was eighteen years old. She had her first child, a village in a palace, and a handsome lover. The final life is bound to be troublesome. The third child died unfortunately. The revolutionary war also caused them to leave Versailles. On the carriage that they left, the rising sun was shining on the Avenue of Bodhi. I think she has no nostalgia. The picture freezes in the messy Versailles, and rock music is remembered again.

It turned out that Sofia hasn't changed at all. What she is concerned about is still only the young girl, her simple and complicated psychology, she seems to have everything but is extremely empty. The girl who committed suicide is the girl on the streets of Tokyo, and the queen of France is still. Therefore, the director tried his best to focus all the shots on this girl, her palace, her beautiful clothes and food, her dances one after another, her dreamlike farm; she cried bitterly because she had no children, and she treated her lover like a lover. Love is beginning to open up general expectations. So history, of course, is just a foil, despite how magnificent it is.

It was expected that the movie attracted a lot of scolding in Cannes. The history of pursuing freedom that the French are proud of is not as exciting as a woman's dress and high heel folding fan in the eyes of a young American woman. I really want to know how the French, who has always been arrogant and arrogant, will look like when he hears the strong rhythm of rock music at the end of the film.

However, Palme d'Or can give "911", why can't Sofia express the Queen Mary in her eyes like this. What's more, this gorgeous and empty movie is really the most realistic portrayal of Mary's life in Versailles, gorgeous and empty.

Costume\scenery is good, no plot. Marie Antoinette (November 2, 1755 - October 16, 1793) was an Austrian Grand Duchess in her early years and later Queen of France. She was the 15th child of Holy Roman Emperor Franz I and Empress Maria Theresia, the second last of all children.
