After Hours is undoubtedly the movie that Martin Scorsese "controls" at least-it is obvious that he has not recovered from The Last Temptation's miscarriage at a low ebb. However, this is the smoothest of all Scorsese films I have ever watched. Although before shooting, the director was still struggling with the decision of "whether to quit the film industry".
The reason for liking this film is simple: although the film is a work created by the director, few directors can filter themselves and the outside world's interference with the film itself. A frustrated director may also export a very lively movie.
The most fascinating thing about After Hours is its natural vitality.
