Imagine, when you are in a gangster family, will you choose to inherit your father's business, or choose to leave the family and give your wife and children a stable living environment? As in this film, the protagonist Cutler (Michael Fassbender) faces the same choice. On the one hand, it is the ardent expectation of the protagonist's father, who is looking forward to his son, on the other hand, the eyes of his wife and children who are eager for the male protagonist to return home.
The film breaks away from the framework of traditional gangster films and mainly reflects the male protagonist's choice between career and family. It can be said to be a clear stream in gangster movies.
