More than 7 hours of grand epic, the most faithful screen reproduction of Tolstoy's original work. Watch the screen adaptation of War and Peace, don't watch the American version, it's a Hollywood romance with a twist, don't watch the TV version of Bondarchuk, it's just a cut out of the wider picture of the movie. Be sure to watch the restored Bondarchuk wide-screen film version to appreciate that wide field of vision, that powerful shock, that moving poetry. The fate of the country and the nation, and the emotions of the greats and the little people, all can be seen.

I really don't understand this film well. I slept four times in more than seven hours... The picture is really beautiful, the war and dance scenes are very atmospheric, but the empty scene of a lot of stream of consciousness makes me a little crazy, I am most impressed The shot is Andre's dead tree. Character dialogue is minimal, and storytelling with lots of narration and voiceover is my least favorite type of movie. The editing of many scene transitions is messy and blunt, and the soundtrack photos are interspersed, which is really strange.

Romantic and elegant, a masterpiece, in addition to Andre becoming a supporting role, the director himself played Pierre as the protagonist, which is unhappy. The understanding of war may be pinned on a lot of hatred for Hitler. After all, history repeats itself. If Tolstoy catches up with World War II, I don’t know what will happen. The understanding of peaceful life deserves much consideration today. The first person in many novels is usually the bystander, the witness, the one who survives, whose personality is less attractive (extreme, dramatic) than the protagonist

War and Peace quotes

  • Field Marshal Kutuzov: Advisers, advisers. There are always plenty of advisors. But not enough real men.

  • Field Marshal Kutuzov: Everything moves too fast. Nothing is accomplished in haste. It's easy to take a fortress, but hard to win a campaign. That requires patience and time.
