This film is a little different from To Qifeng's other police and gangster films. It is not a simple shootout, but joins the media. In fact, the whole operation is just a show done by the police, just trying to save face in front of the Hong Kong people. And then it wasn't a real drama, because there were real gangsters and policemen who were not acting (Zhang Jiahui and others). Zhang Jiahui and others persistently wanted to catch the gangsters, and the gangsters cleverly took the hostages and then planned to escape, so this scene could not be as smooth as Chen Huilin and others hoped.
Dramatically, Ren Xianqi and the other gangsters ate together at the hostage's house, and the police even ate outside. But don't you think this is fooling the masses even more? At such a critical time, the gangsters are eating, and the police are also eating? Shouldn't it be time to catch them while they let down their guard?
However, seeing that Ren Xianqi and You Yong treated the two children well, and had a conversation with them cutting vegetables in the kitchen, I felt that human nature is actually good, and they are not that bad.
In the end, after Ren Xianqi was shot, he said to Chen Huilin, "If it were me, I would choose you as the heroine."
Chen Huilin's role is very cool, but I think her acting skills are really average and too blunt.
